September   The Senior GB squad trials took place after an intense training camp.  The 2011 squad were joined by selected athletes on the training camp where they started working on new routines, this followed an open trial held over a week.  The athletes were tested in all areas on both land and in the pool.  Royals Katie Skelton and Katie Clark retained their places to become that one step closer to the London 2012 Olympics.  Junior athlete Hannah Green was also successful in joining this squad, having completed her GCSE and competed in the Junior Europeans earlier this year this is a very exciting way for her to finish 2011.  The squad contains 13 athletes and we wish them all especially Katie, Katie and Hannah the best of luck as they strive to secure a place on the Olympic Squad where there are 9 places up for grabs.

LEN European Cup was held in Sheffield, it was a great chance for the UK's synchro family to go and see the best in the world compete.  The Royals went up on a coach on the Saturday support the GB Team in the Free Team prelims and finals including fellow club athletes Katie Skelton and Katie Clark.  It was an amazing atmosphere and great to see them in competition.  On the Sunday they also performed in the Combo where the squad won a Bronze medal FANTASTIC.
April 24th   British Championships saw the Royals A-Team compete in all event for the first time.  Hannah Green competed in all seven events.  In her tech and free solo she came an excellent 3rd place behind to senior athletes and top junior, in the tech duet with Kristina Holley and free duet with Charlotte Adams they came a well deserved 4th place showing huge improvements from Nationals Age Groups last December.  In the Combination Team the nine athletes really showed how far they have come in the 15 weeks they had to prepared pulling off an amazing swim to take the silver medal.  In the tech and free teams the squad again showed their maturity sticking to their counts and being the only team not to get any penalties in the tech routine to third.  It was very tight in the top three with the Royals being 3 points clear of the team in 4th.  Well done to all the athletes.
