2010 was a successful year once again for the Royals and this did not go unnoticed. The Reading Evening Post Awards were held in January and the Royals received various awards. Katie Clark and Katie Skelton Royals athelets and Senior GB members attended the awards as presenters.
Jan Clayton won a Helper Loyalty award. Jan has coached at the club for many years outlasting her daugther who used to swim for the club. She is part of the management team for the club as well as giving up many hours to coach our athletes she also volunteers and regional and national events. Jan has had a tough year personally but her comittment to the club was unaffected. A well deserved award. Kate Coupar won a Helper Loyalty award. Kate has also been at the club for many years starting out as an athlete and turned to coaching whilst still competing. She coaches and choreographs many of the clubs routines as well as finding time to coach the National Junior Squad in 2010. Natalie Saudan and Jade Hearmon won Junior Team of the Year. These athletes had a busy in 2010 competing for England for the first time at an Interntional in Crete in the summer, whilst still training at club for the 13/14 Team. At the National Age Groups Jade won a Gold and Silver for figures and solo and Natalie won two silver for duet with partner Lucy Farrell and for team with her team mates, Lucy, Tianee, Lily, Maisie and Esme. Club of the Year. This is in recognition of the clubs achievements throughout the whole club, from the Reading Novice competition held in the summer each year all the way through our Age Group athletes competing at the National and British championships to our international representations at Age Group, Junior and Senior level. Well done everybody and keep up the good work to make 2011 just as successful if not more.
