Reading Royals’ and GB senior squad member, Katie Clark, was presented with an Award by Olympic Hurdler Sally Gunnell at a prestigious event held at the BT Tower in London in recognition of her achievements and progress during 2009.
Sally is patron of the GLL Sports Foundation who support talented athletes who live or train in London Boroughs which includes the Rivermead complex in Reading .
During 2009, Katie competed for England/Great Britain in 3 different age groups, 13-15, Junior, and Senior, something which has probably not been previously been achieved. Katie successfully took part in trials to join the Senior GB squad from September last year and combines full-time training at Aldershot with studying for her GCSE’s. As part of the senior squad she has competed in Montreal and Bonn and the squad are currently preparing for the European Championships in Budapest .
Other supported athletes include Tiannee Buckley and Jade Hearmon who both have received free use of the gym at Rivermead.
